Americans turn in passports as new tax law hits
September 4, 2013: 9:43 PM ET
Summary: The number of Americans are choosing to give up their citizenship has dramatically increased as the government made a new law to eliminate the stamping out tax evasion. Some might give up their citizenship to avoid this law, and some might give up their citizenship by becoming tired of overly complexed tax collection while they are in other countries. Unlike other country does, United States taxes citizens on all income.
Opinion: I think the government did well on making a new law. It is for the citizens who are not that worthy and rich. Like Warren Buffet said, "If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even probably be cut further. But I think that people at the high end - people like myself - should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it." we people should change their perspectives of the taxing problem.

Yes, I agree with you. People who are rich have to pay more. As they have enough money or resources to live, the rest of money of them have to be turned back to the society in form of a tax.
답글삭제I don't agree with that. There are certain limits of human privacy that has to be protected, and if the government claims to collect more taxes from the rich, they'll probably have to research on how much the person earns, how much debt they have, and in what kind of project the person is working on. Just by trying to know how much debt I have is considered high violation of personal privacy to me.
답글삭제Tax on passport? It is ridiculous. We all have freedom to go anywhere we want as a human being. It is abusing the power of government to put tax on that kind of things.
